Why the name Pavlov

Ivan Pavlov showed the world that dogs learn by association. A sound, a context, a person at the door, all of it can predict good news or trouble. That is still the most useful idea in a Philadelphia living room. If the doorbell predicts chaos, we change the prediction. If the leash predicts a fight, we change the walk. We are not running laboratory drills for their own sake. We are using classical and operant conditioning the way a careful coach uses them: with timing, with food or play the dog actually wants, and with criteria that match the dog in front of us.
